The Center for Training and Development of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Misamis Oriental - Cagayan de Oro Chapter will conduct a 2-day live-out training on “Scaffold Erection and Safety” on November 21-22, 2014 at the Golden Stallion Suites, 21-27th Sts., Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City.
The main objectives of the training is to provide participants with core competencies in handling scaffolding tools and equipment as well as erecting and dismantling scaffolding. The course is designed towards an issuance of an NC II competency based on the regulations of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
There are 30 seats available with a participation fee of P4,500.00 per trainee inclusive of snacks and lunch for the 2-day duration, training handouts, certificates, professional fees of the trainers, harness and rental of scaffolds. Cagayan de Oro City, March 5, 2014 – The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), Misamis Oriental-Cagayan de Oro Chapter is organizing the first-ever learning workshop to help prepare the Civil Engineers of the country integrate into the ASEAN economy by aligning their competency with the 10-member countries and become listed in the Engineering Registry scheme under the Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Registry (ACPER).
The workshop which is intended to teach the engineers how to become registered and practice the profession in the ASEAN countries, will be conducted on March 15, this year at the N Hotel, Cagayan de Oro with a minimal participation fee of P1,500.00. Resource speaker will be Engr. Federico Monsada, President of the Philippine Technological Council (PTC).
This initiative is part of the country’s gearing-up move to prepare the economy to get fully integrated into the ASEAN starting in 2015.

The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 10 offers free construction safety and health training for civil engineers of contractors and implementing agencies in the region. The comprehensive 40-hour course which is a requirement to accredit safety practitioners is tentatively scheduled May 20-24, this year in Cagayan de Oro City.
At the end of the training participant will be able to 1) identify unsafe act and unsafe condition; 2) perform safety inspection and develop recommendations; 3) conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and standardize job procedures incorporating the safety aspect in every steps; 4) prepare safety & health program using various key elements; 5) perform accident investigation and reporting; and 6) perform corrective action to any deviation from safety standards.
