DOLE Region 10 offers free construction safety training
The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 10 offers free construction safety and health training for civil engineers of contractors and implementing agencies in the region. The comprehensive 40-hour course which is a requirement to accredit safety practitioners is tentatively scheduled May 20-24, this year in Cagayan de Oro City.
At the end of the training participant will be able to 1) identify unsafe act and unsafe condition; 2) perform safety inspection and develop recommendations; 3) conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and standardize job procedures incorporating the safety aspect in every steps; 4) prepare safety & health program using various key elements; 5) perform accident investigation and reporting; and 6) perform corrective action to any deviation from safety standards.
Topics that will be covered include OSH Legislation and Department Order No.13 specifically, 1) Guidelines Governing Occupational Safety & Health in the Construction Industry; 2) Basic Safety Terminologies; 3) Tool Box Meeting; 4) Personal Protective Equipment; 5) Safety in Confined Space; 6) Basic Electrical Safety; 7) COHE/LOTO; 8) Fall Protection; 9) Ladder Safety; 10) Excavation Safety; 11) Safety in Heavy Equipment Operation; 11) Fire Safety; 12) Welding and Hotworks; 13) Hand & Powered Tools Safe Operation; 14) Job Hazard Analysis; 15) Safety Inspection; 16) Accident Investigation; 17) Scaffold Safety; 18) Safety Program; and 19) Re-Entry Action Planning.
